Bothwell Castle stands as one of the most brilliant landmarks from Scotland’s medieval period. Though never completed, the castle is renowned for the large tower which stands to the west of the site and can still be seen attracting visitors all year round, enticed by the rich history and beauty of the place. Founded by Walter of Moray in the 1200’s it survived the Wars of Independence and several sieges to stand as a remarkably intact ruin as it’s seen today. This is a must see for the Clyde valley area if only for the rugged landscape in which it’s set.
