This tarn is situated close to Brampton, surrounded by beautiful woodland and farmland, a perfect place to take a leisurely walk with wonderful views of the Pennine fells. Formed by a glacier thousands of years ago, underground streams still feed water into the tarn. Many different walks are available to do in this country park including a one mile walk around the lake suitable for wheelchair users.
If you are interested in doing any activities, there are plenty of things on offer with sailing, windsurfing, rowing boats, and fishing all available. A mountain biking shop is in the country park allowing you to hire bikes to go around the cycle routes that can be advised to you by the shop.
If you’re having a day out here in the chills of the winter, how about warming up next to the log fire in the Boathouse Tea Room which has brilliant views from the window or alternatively sit outside on the balcony and enjoy these views in the summer sunshine. And then follow your refreshments with a browse around the gift shop full of local gifts.
