Description

Aldersyde is a large detached traditional stone built house sitting on the hillside overlooking the quiet coastal village of Tighnabruaich on the Cowal Peninsula.  Aldersyde has space for all the family to spread out and enjoy their holiday.  There is a games room with table tennis and pool table, plus a small children’s playroom with toys and games.  The kitchen leads into the lounge which provides a very sociable area for everyone to be together.  There is one bedroom downstairs and three further bedrooms upstairs.  The two double bedrooms upstairs have a view to the sea.  The large garden is fully enclosed with a lawn to the side. The sea front is within 200 metres, at the bottom of the hill and the village shops and eateries are only one mile away.  The small selection of local shops includes a grocery, cafe, post office, bank, gallery, craft shop and hotels with pub and restaurants.  There is a local 9-hole golf course, tennis courts and a sailing school which you can see from the house.

About the local area

The village of Kames is only 2 miles away and it also has a few shops, eateries and internet access.  Aldersyde is a great location to relax in or alternatively you can find plenty of things to see and do. There are wonderful coastal walks, bird watching, and fishing, cycling and stunning driving scenery.  Explore the new Cowal Way, a long distance walk running from Portavadie to Arrochar. Discover Kilbride Bay – a beautiful large sandy and quiet beach, a great spot to spend a day with the children.  The area is well known for its seafood and local produce, so what better excuse for trying out all the great local restaurants and hotels.  Over at Otter Ferry, the Estate offers seasonal sporting activities.  Take the ferry (summer only) from Portavadie to Tarbert and explore the Kintyre Peninsula. You could travel slightly further afield to the town of Dunoon which has a good shopping centre, leisure facilities, small cinema and the Benmore Botanic Gardens are a must see with its avenue of Giant Redwoods and wonderful plants.  Or take a day trip to the Isle of Bute and visit the famous Victorian Gothic Mount Stuart House.  Inveraray is also a great day out; attractions here include the 19th century Jail, fun for the whole family or soak up the history in Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. The Cowal Peninsula is a fantastic peaceful and accessible location to relax and get away from it all or for the more adventurous, explore and find hidden treasures.
