Enjoying stunning views over Tarbert’s harbour and Loch Fyne, this spacious and comfortably furnished house is within walking distance of the quayside shops, inns and restaurants. A bustling fishing village, Tarbert also offers boat trips to Jura, Gigha, Islay and Arran, whilst opportunities for sea fishing and riding in the lovely surrounding countryside are available locally. There is golf too, with the 18 hole championship links course at Machrihanish just a short drive away, and four other courses close by. The glorious landscape of the Kintyre Peninsula holds a rich variety of attractions, with excellent hill walking and beautiful forest scenery. At Lochgilphead, 15 miles, Kilmory Castle displays its world famous rhododendrons in its lovely gardens. A little further on, Dunadd hill fort and Kilmartin Glen’s wealth of standing stones are steeped in history. Shops and pubs within walking distance.

About the local area

As you travel through Argyll, highland Scotland merges with the Scottish lowlands. In the north of the region is the bustling fishing port of Oban. Surrounded by the sweeping mountains of Lorn this is the ideal base from which to tour the Highlands to the north.

The Isle of Mull is only a short ferry trip away. Mull's capital, Tobermory, is instantly recognised by its famous brightly painted buildings. The island has a fascinating history being once home to the Chief of the Clan MacLean and site of the clan's ancient Duart Castle which has spectacular views from its battlements.

South along the coast are the unspoilt glens and bays of Mid-Argyll and Kintyre and the islands of Islay and Jura which are easily reached by ferry. Visit the whitwashed houses of Inveraray and the turreted Inveraray Castle, home to the Dukes of Argyll. Campbelltown in Kintyre was the scene of Viking repulsions at Saddell Abbey and has some lovely beaches nearby.

The captivating Isle of Bute lies at the heart of the Firth of Clyde, a place of tranquil relaxation with sheltered coves and sandy bays. Ideal for leisurely hiking and easy-going cycling on quiet back roads. Maybe take in the grandeur of Rothesay Castle or Mount Stuart - the House and gardens of the Marquess of Bute.
