Granny's Cottage is a quaint semi detached property situated in the quiet hamlet of Coaltown of Burnturk which is only 6 miles south of Cupar in Fife. The cottage dates back to 1740's with traditional east coast red pantiles on the roof and thick stone wall construction. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation for a family of four with off road parking, an enclosed back garden and storage for bicycles/golf clubs. The cottage is also motor cycle friendly with locked storage. The lounge has an old style open fire, a large wall mounted TV and Wi-fi is available. The kitchen is well equipped with dining area situated in the lounge next door. The two bedrooms upstairs have velux windows and coombed ceilings. Granny's Cottage is part of a small holding so there may be a good supply of freshly laid eggs available during your stay! It is only two miles to the local village of Kingskettle where you will find all the essential amenities. Cupar is close by for a larger selection of retail outlets, eateries, leisure facilities and also offers a variety of activities for all ages and interest.

About the local area

This is a fantastic area for outdoor enthusiasts, as you have magnificent countryside right on your doorstep. The Lomond Hills behind Falkland provide great walks. From Leven, which is only 6 miles to the south, you can access beaches and perhaps walk on part of the Fife Coastal Path, which runs from North Queensferry in the south, 150km to the Tay Bridge in the north, with historic castles, quaint fishing villages and many beautiful beaches and coves to visit along the way. For cyclist the Millennium Cycle Way allows you to explore 300 miles along quiet country roads, disused railways and forest tracks, an excellent way to admire the stunning coastline and the rolling countryside. Theere are numerous lochs and rivers providing ideal opportunities for fishing or canoeing. This is a golfer's paradise with numerous local golf courses and top class international courses at St Andrews. Activities such as 4 x 4  driving, horse riding and wild fowling can be found locally. There are many places of historical interest including St Andrews, Abernethy Pictish Round Tower, Scone Palace, the Black Watch Museum, Dunfermline Abbey to name but a few. Scotland's first conservation village of Falkland is onlya short dirve away and a visit here feels like stepping back in time and it oozes genuine history. There are 28 listed buildings, wonderful cobbled streets and narrow intriguing wynd's which look unchanged over hundreds of years. The Royal Palace of Falkland, with its massive twin towered gatehouse, dominates the centre of the village. Traveling arounf Fife you will find some fantastic villages, fishing harbours and even an ex WW2 secret bunker. With good motorway links you can easily venture further afield; North to the HIghlands or Grampians or alternatively head south to perhaps Edinburgh which is less than an hour's drive away. Granny's Cottage is a great base to start exploring all that stunning Fife, Perthshire and Dundee & Angus have to offer.
