Description

Am Tighndhuin is a lovely, semi-detached cottage on the edge of the conservation village of Killin. Finished to a high standard, with quality fixtures and fittings throughout, guests will find it welcoming and well-presented at any time of year. If you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday then this is just for you. Spend a lazy afternoon curled up with a book in the open plan living area, or the covered porch at the front door of the property is perfect for alfresco dining, with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Surrounded by wildlife, with red squirrels, wild birds and red deer which often visit the grounds in the winter, Am Tighndhuin is a nature lovers paradise.
You can walk into the village along the riverside and enjoy a coffee, or have a drink in the local hotel and pub. Killin has some excellent places to eat and local shops, including an outdoor and mountain shop where you can hire or buy equipment. The spectacular Falls of Dochart are only a 15-minute walk away, as well as many other pathways in the surrounding area, taking you through the beautiful countryside. In the heart of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, and at the edge of Ben Lawer’s Nature Reserve, you are spoilt for choice for outdoor activities. For the more adventurous, there are 39 munro’s (mountains over 3,000ft) within the area, which provide tremendous walking all year round. There is also opportunity for mountain biking and visiting rivers Lochay and Dochart which are nearby. This stunning highland location isideally placed to explore the surrounding area, as well as the cosmopolitan cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, which are only a 90-minute drive away. About the local area

Loch Lomond is the single biggest expanse of inland water in the British Isles. The broad island-dotted shallows in the south gradually narrow into deeper water surrounded by steep sided mountains dominated by Ben Lomond. The loch is ideal for sailing and water-sports and there are some beautiful walks.

Talk a gentle stroll through Queen Elizabeth Forest Park or Balloch Castle Country Park and visit charming lochside villages and sandy bays. There really is something for everyone. If hill walking, cycling, boating, golf, wildlife watching, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing or mountain biking are your thing then this is THE place to go!

Nearby to the north is The Trossachs National Park, with heather-clad peaks known as `The Highlands in Minature'. This place includes the Crainlairch and Ben Lawers mountain ranges, which are amongst the highest in Scotland. A true haven for keen walkers and hikers. For more relaxing activities visit one of the many historic buildings in the area or take a guided bush craft tour, try bird watching, or do a spot of retail therapy. The Trossachs is a wonderful area to visit and no trip to Scotland would be complete without spending some time in the area.
