About the local area

The property is close to the essential amenities as it is only a short walk to the local village shop, post office and pub/restaurant.  With access across the road to the seafront, one could launch a canoe or kayak to explore the coastline. The railway station is less than 400 yards away with trains heading for Glasgow in the south, or north to Oban/Fort William. Quiet roads around the Rosneath Peninsula make for ideal cycling.  From Helensburgh there is a cycle-way running all the way to Loch Lomond. There are numerous marked pathways within the surrounding area and coastline.  Much of the history of this area comes from the sea.

Visit Kilcreggan village and you will find the pier is the last remaining original Victorian pier on the Clyde; many of the buildings in the area  date back to the same era. This is a perfect location for the sailing enthusiast and there are numerous Sailing Clubs to be found.  Loch Long provides fishing for those looking to enjoy a quiet day on the shores or a trip out sea fishing.

Locally there are numerous walks suitable for a stroll or more serious hill walking such as the Arrochar Alps, with access to several Munros and also Ben Arthur (better known as “The Cobbler”). There are various golf courses to be found in the area, from Loch Lomond to Helensburgh.  Helensburgh is the nearest large town and it provides a larger selection of shops and leisure facilities.

It is also home to “The Hill House” designed by Charles Rennie MacKintosh, a ‘must see’ for all architectural lovers. Roselea Cottage is a great base allowing easy access to the surrounding countryside, sea lochs and coastline, including the much-loved Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Although I have rated very good I would have scored every question excellent if this was an option

P Hardingham - August 2012

It is a lovely property, tastefully furnished, warm and had everything we needed. The beds were really comfortable so we slept extremely well. The owners left a fabulous chocolate cake and bottle of wine for when we arrived which was well received! It was a good base for our holiday.
