Ach-Na-Sythe means “field of peace” and this detached cottage is situated in the small, quiet hamlet of Clachan on the Kintyre Peninsula. The accommodation is all on one level with three bedrooms (two have French doors and delightful Juliet balconies), lounge, bathroom and there is a good sized, well equipped kitchen with dining area. There is a lovely view out to the mature back garden with access available outside through French doors and then down concrete steps. There is a river running through the garden and it has been known for salmon and trout to be caught here, there are a number of mature trees and plants making for a wonderful habitat for small birds. The owners regular feed the birds so a large variety of native species are often spotted. You can take a walk, about 20 minutes from the village, to a lovely sandy beach and there are a number of other lovely walks locally. & Gardens. The island is ideal for gentle cycling. To the North, at Kennacraig (5 miles), the ferry departs for Islay, famous for its Malt Whisky distilleries. Then to the East, at Claonaig, the ferry travels to Arran. The Kintyre Peninsula is steeped in history and locally at Clachan, there are ancient monuments - standing stones, a burial ground and an Iron Age fort. Also the famous Kilmartin Glen is less than one hour’s drive away. The area is great for golfing as Machrihanish has two 18-hole golf courses, which are part of the “Great Scottish Links Collection”. The first hole on one course requires the opening shot to carry over the Atlantic! For walking enthusiast the Kintyre Way provides a great long distance walk (87 miles) from Tarbert in the north, to Danaverty Bay in the south. Kintyre really has the feel of an island without leaving the mainland.
