Kames is a beautiful location to get away from it all - to sit back and relax. However, you can also find lots of things to see and do. There is a local 9 hole golf course, wonderful coastal walks, bird watching, fishing, cycling and stunning driving scenery. A short drive west and then a short walk will take you to Kilbride Bay - a beautiful large sandy and quiet beach, a great spot to spend a day with the children. The area is well known for its seafood and local produce, so what better excuse for trying out all the great local restaurants and hotels. The village of Tighnabruaich, once voted "the best village" is only a mile away. There is a RYA sailing school on the shores of village and locally run painting course. Over at Otter Ferry, the Estate offers shooting. You could explore slightly further afield to the town of Dunoon, which has a good shopping centre, leisure facilities and Benmore Botanic Gardens are a must see with its avenue of Giant Redwoods and wonderful plants. Isle of Bute is a great day trip and the famous Victorian Gothic Mount Stuart House is a popular visitor attraction. Inverary has a 19th century Jail and the Inverary Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll.
