Approached via its own private track and surrounded by spectacular scenery in the heart of the Spey valley, Rowanlea Cottage is a delightful stone cottage standing alone in 15 acres of private land. This charming cottage has been superbly renovated, extended and refurbished in recent years. With wood-burning stoves, exposed stone walls and original solid wood floors and doors, it oozes olde worlde charm whilst providing bright and spacious modern living. It looks out across open countryside to the Cromdale Hills beyond. The farmhouse kitchen / dining room has a large wood-burning stove and plenty of space for family dining. The lounge also has a welcoming wood-burner and lovely countryside views. The pretty sun-room is an ideal spot to sit and enjoy the views whilst watching the myriad bird life immediately outside. There are three beautifully presented bedrooms and a family sized bathroom. Situated in the heart of Speyside it is ideally placed for wide range of outdoor pursuits. There are superb walks and mountain bike trails direct from the cottage. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

About the local area

The famous river Spey is just a stone’s throw from the cottage and fishing is readily available to visitors. Walkers, canoeists and cyclists will also enjoy the Spey’s unique charms. Skiers and snowboards are spoilt for choice, with the Cairngorm mountain range just a short drive away and good access to The Lecht and Cairngorm ski centres. Whisky enthusiasts will scarcely know where to turn, with so many top class Speyside distilleries within easy driving distance, offering tours and tastings. There are also numerous golf courses nearby including Boat of Garten and Grantown offering expansive views of the surrounding hills and mountains. The renowned sandy beaches of the sunny Moray coast are under an hour away and there is easy access to some of the most extensive walking and mountain biking in Scotland with hundreds of miles of trails and mountain walking available in the Cairngorms and nearby Glenlivet. The historic town of Grantown-on-Spey is just 5 minutes’ drive away. This delightful and thriving Victorian holiday resort is situated on the wooded banks of the mighty river Spey. Its broad streets lined with granite buildings, it has an excellent selection of small shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Aviemore is also just 15 minutes’ drive. Renowned for its skiing and snowboarding, the area also offers a vast array of all year round activities and outdoor pursuits. Visitors can encounter Britain’s only herd of free-ranging reindeer at the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre. Husky trail rides through the foothills of the mountains also offer a memorable and unique day out. The region is also noted for its birdlife and the nearby RSPB nature reserve at Boat of Garten is famous for its Ospreys which nest locally. There is a steam railway that runs from Aviemore through to the village of Boat of Garten. With numerous challenging Munros, and the superb water-sport lochs of Insh and Morlich, the choice of outdoor sports is almost unlimited. For the less energetic there is a funicular railway that runs up the side the Cairngorm mountain range.
Rowanlea provides a peaceful and secluded location from which to explore the heart of this spectacular Highland region.
