Salmon Catch Cottage is a superb newly built 1 1/2 storey cottage situated right on the banks of the famous River Lochy. Forming a brand new wing of the owner’s lovely detached West Highland house, with wrap around gardens and situated in a beautiful glen with gardens leading down to the renowned salmon river and just a few minutes’ drive to the Ben Nevis mountain range, it offers peace and tranquillity in a stunning setting. This spacious cottage is superbly presented throughout and with four double bedrooms it is ideal for combined family holidays and larger groups, particularly salmon fishers, given its close proximity to beat number 2 on the river Lochy. The main living area is open plan. The lounge has large picture windows overlooking the gardens, with the river below. The kitchen/dining area is spacious and ultra modern and fully equipped to a high standard. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor (one en suite) and two generously proportioned bedrooms on the first floor, which enjoy the same stunning views across the river to the hills beyond. There are superb walks with fantastic views direct from the property. A small footpath leads directly down the banks of the river Lochy.
Please note that Nevis Rest, apartment for 2/4 is also situated in the same grounds and may be available to book together, subject to availability.

About the local area

The Great Glen Way is also right on the doorstep; ideal for cyclists and walkers alike. The immediate area is a wild life watcher’s paradise. Deer, pine martens, otters, sea eagles, golden eagles, buzzards and a wide variety of small birds, including wood peckers and king fishers are all seen in the locality. Salmon Catch Cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the whole of the West Highlands. Ben Nevis is just 10 minutes’ drive away. Here there are endless opportunities for climbing, hill walking, mountain biking (the world mountain bike championships are held annually), riding, skiing and snowboarding, all of which are available locally. There are a wide variety of places of interest to visit and much to see and do. Visitors can take a gondola ride up Aanoch Mor, part of the Nevis range and enjoy a meal at the restaurant and viewpoint at the top, or take a trip on the historic steam train through to Mallaig on the Hogwart’s Express of Harry Potter fame. From Mallaig you can explore some of the smaller isles of Muck, Rhum and Eigg or take the boat across the sea to Skye, returning via the Skye Bridge to complete a spectacular circular tour. There are also two local interesting museums and a famous memorial which pay tribute to the Commandos who trained here during World War 2. There are also a variety of water sports in the area, such as canoeing, sailing, kayaking and scuba diving. The nearby town of Spean Bridge has a well stocked local shop as well as good quality restaurants and bars, including a 2AA rosette restaurant with an excellent reputation for fine dining. There is also a 9 hole golf course open to visitors and six other courses in close proximity.
