This place isn’t called the Great Glen for nothing. Just look out of any window. With Loch Oich at the end of the garden, boats cruising by and wooded hills all around, it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful spot. This detached cottage was a canal worker’s house, and the late 18th Century exterior shows its history. Inside, this unique holiday home has been renovated to a very good standard without losing any of its period charm and makes an ideal base for exploring. Guests are welcome to fish from the edge of the garden, what better way to relax and unwind?
The surrounding area is renowned for its superb wildlife, breathtaking scenery, mountain biking, climbing, skiing, walking, golf, fishing and a large variety of watersports. You can visit unspoilt beaches, castles, museums, beautiful gardens and distilleries or take a short boat trip to one of the inner isles. Fort William, known as the “Outdoor Capital of the UK”, is home to Nevis Range and Ben Nevis, Britian’s highest mountain. Inverness, the Highland Capital, lies near two important battle sites, Blàr nam Fèinne and Culloden, whilst Urquhart Castle can be found nestling on the banks of Loch Ness at Drumnadrochit. The Isle of Skye is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides and provides dramatic mountain scenery.
