Situated in the charming Charleston area of Gairloch, Heatherdale is a large, detached house offering great accommodation in a lovely setting. It is within easy walking distance of the pretty harbour, golf course and stunning beaches. It is surrounded by its own pretty gardens, with a superb decking area that drinks in the beautiful sea views, Heatherdale is ideal for a large family holiday. Set into the hillside, the house is built on various levels. There is a superb lounge with deep leather suite and plenty of seating for six (although the photographs show a wood burning stove in the lounge, it is not available to guests, it is display only). Sea views from the picture windows add to the charm. There are three large bedrooms, all en-suite, as well as a family bathroom. The bright kitchen is extremely well-equipped and a separate dining room adds to the feeling of spaciousness.
Heatherdale makes an ideal base for exploring the beautiful area of Wester Ross. Hill walkers will be spoilt for choice, with the Torridon mountains to the south and the Assynt range to the north. From Gairloch harbour, you can choose from a variety of boat trips, which include whale and dolphin watching, to sea-angling, and there are pontoons available for those who wish to bring their own boat. The area is a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise. Sea eagles are common to the region and otters, seals and a superb array of birdlife can be seen in the area. There are a number of excellent sea and wildlife boat trips that can be booked from the harbour, as well as sea fishing trips and excursions. There is also a wonderful voyage out to the uninhabited Shaints islands (the only trip from mainland Scotland to these remote islands) to view the millions of nesting sea-birds, spotting whales and dolphins on the way. The excellent nine hole golf course is just a few minutes along the road and is situated beside a golden sandy beach. Another popular activity is pony trekking at Red Point. The world famous Inverewe Gardens at Poolewe and the Gairloch Heritage Museum are both worth a visit. The Gairloch Leisure Centre provides many sporting activities and there is an indoor swimming pool at Poolewe, six miles. Gairloch also has a good choice of pubs and restaurants, which specialise in sea food dishes and other local fare, the nearest one being just a five minute walk from the cottage. There are also many small coffee and craft shops in the area. With unspoilt sandy beaches and superb scenery, this is a superb holiday location for all ages.Pub 300yards, shops 500 yards and restaurant 300 yards
