Description

Beinne Na Greine is a pretty single storey detached cottage situated in a quiet no through road, yet only a short walk to the centre of Portree, the ’capital’ town on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Named after a favourite hill walk of the owner just a stone’s throw from the cottage, Beinn Na Greine offers very spacious accommodation for two people in a lovely setting. The main lounge looks out across the pretty garden grounds, with lawns, flower beds and shrubs, backing onto woodland. The sound of running water from the tumbling river below adds to its charm and ambience. There is a woodland/nature walk direct from the property, following the course of the river through to the centre of Portree, just 1/4 mile away.

Set around its natural harbour, with spectacular hills and mountains beyond, Portree is the epitome of a picturesque fishing village. Brightly painted cottages cluster round the active harbour where some of the finest fish restaurants can be found. This bustling, atmospheric town boasts an excellent selection of interesting local shops, together with bars, restaurants and cafes. There is also a swimming pool and leisure centre. Boat trips run from Portree harbour to encounter the local sea life close to hand, including rare sea eagles, which nest in the area. The Isle of Skye is renowned for its mountains, coasts, historical sites and stunning scenery. Surrounded by miles of breathtaking coastline, awe-inspiring mountain ranges, amazing, unique formations and magical castles and historical sites, the visitor is spoilt for choice. The surrounding area is a paradise for those who enjoy walking, climbing, fishing, sailing, kayaking, mountain biking, bird watching, golf or just totally relaxing and enjoying island living at its best. Just a few miles further north is the Trotternish Peninsula. Here the amazing Quiraing mountain range with its dramatic rock formations dominates the skyline. Formed from a combination of volcanic rock and limestone it is well worth a visit. The pretty fishing port of Uig just a short drive away has a number of excellent pubs and restaurants, a local bakery, pottery and is also the home of the Isle of Skye brewery. From Uig one can take a day ferry trip to the Outer Isles. Beinne Na Greinne offers bright and spacious accommodation for couples wishing to explore this mystical Isle of Skye.
