Description

Set in its own private grounds with superb views of hills, mountains and the stunning sea loch of Dunvegan, Seaview, Skye Croft House provides bright and spacious accommodation for up to 7 people. Located at the end of a short track, it offers peace and seclusion in a wonderful setting. The spacious lounge/dining room is situated on the first  floor, to maximise the lovely uninterrupted views of the MacLeod Table mountains, the famous Cuillins and Dunvegan Loch. There is a large en suite bedroom on the first floor with adjoining child’s room. Two further bedrooms on the ground floor and a good sized family bathroom make this self catering cottage ideal for larger families or a two family holiday. The traditional conservatory at the front provides an ideal sunny spot from which to drink in the amazing views. This original croft house has been sympathetically modernised and extended in recent years to provide all modern facilities whilst retaining its own unique character. The wood lined walls add to a cosy, warm ambience. Syke Croft House is situated just 5 minutes’ drive from the historic and unspoilt village of Dunvegan on the west coast of Skye. It is a charming traditional village providing an excellent range of high quality small shops, including a lovely cake shop and bakery, grocer’s store, fishing tackle shop as well as an excellent restaurant and a good local pub.

About the local area

There are numerous places of interest within easy reach. Dunvegan Castle, at the far end of the village, is the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland and seat of the  Clan MacLeod since the 13th century. Visitors are welcome to wander the beautiful grounds and also take a boat to encounter the local seal colony closer to hand. There are many other historic sites, brochs and castles on this fascinating isle. Talisker Distillery is also just a short drive away. There is a renowned coral beach nearby that is popular with visitors. The ’capital’ town of Portee is under half an hour’s drive away. It is a quintessentially picturesque fishing village. Brightly painted cottages cluster round the active harbour where some of the finest fish restaurants can be found. There is also an excellent selection of local shops, pubs and other restaurants as well as a superb leisure centre with 25 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room and table tennis, all available to visitors.
