Nature lovers will feel very at home here with Fowlsheugh RSPB reserve being only a few miles away - the spectacular cliffs are packed with 130,000 seabirds, including razorbills, puffin and guillemot. Montrose Basin nature reserve is just 20 miles south, the centre provides superb views across the tidal basin, which inhabits seals, herons, eider and waders. Osprey can be seen in the summer and pink-foot geese in the winter. 20 miles to the north is Aberdeen, with its stunning granite architecture. Aberdeen has much to offer with a good selection of shops, restaurants and attractions. For the more adventurous there are lots of opportunities locally for walking and cycling and a number of golf courses – the closest being the challenging course at Stonehaven with stunning clifftop views.
