About the local area

There are superb walks with fantastic views direct from the property, with quiet country lanes as well as numerous mountain biking tracks. There is an excellent golf course open to visitors within walking distance. There are also two local historic museums and a famous memorial which pay tribute to the Commandos who trained here during World War II. Fort William, just 9 mile south is rightly known as the ‘outdoor capital of the UK’. The wealth of activities, outdoor pursuits and places of interest available are world-renowned. The Nevis range offers an exceptional variety of sporting activities all year round, including climbing, hill-walking, para-gliding, skiing, and snow-boarding and a world-class mountain bike course too. There is also an excellent off road quad biking course and, slightly further afield at Kinlochleven there is ice-climbing tuition available at the “Ice Factor” just 30 minutes drive away. The less energetic can take a spectacular ride on the gondola that runs up the side of nearby Aanoch Mor and enjoy a meal at the famous mountain restaurant at the top or enjoy a cycle ride along the scenic Great Glen Cycle route that runs along the side of the Caledonian canal (bikes available to hire locally). Excursions from Fort William include the popular day trip to Mallaig on the Jacobite steam train of Harry Potter fame. Many of the Highlands most famous beauty spots are closeby. Glen Nevis, Loch Ness, Glencoe and the unspoilt Ardnamurchan Peninsula are all within easy driving distance.

What our customers say

S Blyth - October 2011

Great views. The orientation of the property gives you complete privacy from the owners house yet knowing that it is only 100 yards away gives you piece of mind that if anything goes wrong they are not far away. Well stocked with helpful tourist information. Very thoughtful and friendly owner.

Mj Pymer - July 2011

We found the cottage clean and accessible to the member of our party with walking difficulties. The mountain vews were constantly changing and just as advertised - really beautiful. We were visited by a Hedgehog and Pheasants and Yellowhammers in the garden. The local people were friendly when we walked to the village. Mairi was welcoming and although she did not intrude, the family home was close if we had needed any help with anything. Since it was all fine, we didn't!
