About the local area

The village of Spean Bridge is just a few minutes’ walk from the property.  It has a well stocked local shop as well as good quality restaurants and bars, including a 2 AA rosette restaurant which has an excellent reputation for fine dining. Spean Bridge also has an excellent golf course open to visitors within walking distance. There are also two local historic museums and a famous memorial which pay tribute to the Commandos who trained here during the Second World War.  Corrieview Lodge is ideally located for exploring the best of the Highlands. Oban, Inverness and Aviemore are all around an hour’s drive.  Closer to hand, Fort William, known as the ‘outdoor capital of the UK’ is just 10 miles away.  This area offers a wealth of activities, outdoor pursuits and places of interest.  The Nevis range has an exceptional variety of sporting activities all year round, including climbing, hill-walking, para-gliding, skiing, snowboarding and a world-class mountain bike course.  The less energetic can take a spectacular ride on the gondola that runs up the side of Aonach Mor and enjoy a meal at the famous mountain restaurant at the top. Many of the highlands most famous beauty spots are close by.  Glen Nevis, Loch Ness, Glencoe and the unspoilt Ardnamurchan Peninsula are also all within easy driving distance.  Excursions from Fort William include the popular day trip to Mallaig on the Jacobite steam train, made famous through the Harry Potter films.  Several cruises from the pier offer the chance to spot the marine life of Loch Linnhe including seals and otters.  Horse riding, loch, sea and river fishing, sailing, canoeing, climbing and hill-walking are all available locally.
