Otter Lodge is the perfect location for couples. This superbly - presented pied a terre is situated right on the edge of Loch Harport on the stunning beautiful Western shore of the Isle of Skye. Approached via a quiet no through road leading down to the sea, it offers immaculate accommodation for two in a truly spectacular setting. The main living area is open plan, with generous sized sitting room, a dining area and bright, modern well equipped kitchen. The door opens onto a large decking area with picnic table and chairs and vistas of the sea loch, hills and mountains as far as the eye can see. The double bedroom is superbly presented with hand made patchwork quilt bedspread and colour coordinated soft furnishings. There is a good sized modern shower room. The garden grounds meander gently down to the water's edge, between small shrubs and grassy banks. Here visitor's can wander along the side of the loch, pick mussels in season, fish or just enjoy the quiet and seclusion.

There is an amazing abundance of local wildlife, including resident otters that are frequently spotted along the immediate shoreline and dolphins and porpoises in the bay. This is also a bird watchers paradise: buzzards, oyster catchers, goldfinches and herons are all seen regularly and rare white tailed sea eagles and majestic Golden Eagles neat nearby. The caring owners run a high class bed and breakfast in the grounds and free range eggs, home made jams and marmalade and freshly baked bread and cakes are available to visitors. This whole area is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Canoes and kayaks can be launched direct from the property and there is also a small jetty for other small craft in the nearby village of Carbost. Skye is renowned for its climbing and walking and, within sight of the Cuillin mountains and McLeod's Tables, Otter Lodge is ideally located for this There are numerous places of interest within easy reach Talisker Distillery is situated just along the road, Dunvegan Castle, seat of the Clan MacLeod since the 13th century is the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland. Visitors are welcome to wander the beautiful grounds and also take a boat to encounter the seals closer to hand. The beautiful coral beach nearby is also worth exploring. The pretty harbour town of Portree is just 20 minutes drive away. Set around its natural harbour, with spectacular hills and mountains beyond, Portree is a quintessentially picturesque fishing village. Brightly painted cottages cluster round the active harbour where some of the finest fish restaurants can be found. There is also an excellent selection of local shops, pubs and other restaurants as well as a superb leisure centre with 25 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room and table tennis, all available to visitors.

The lodge was very comfortable. It had everything you could need and a lovely view of the bay. The owners were very helpful had plenty of information about places to see and things to do while we were there.

Otter lodge is a perfect accomodation with a high standard of equipment and an abolutely outstanding, magnificent view. The owners are very friendly and gave us help and advice for discovering the most beautiful places on the isle. We are sure, that we couldn't find any better place on Skye.
