The property is situated on a working farm and visitors can experience first hand life on this working croft. Feed the lambs by hand, accompany the owner on his quad bike (together with his faithful Old English Sheepdog, Jock) to attend to the cattle in the upland fields and join the locals in a musical ceilidh evening. Take a stroll down to the small river below the cottage or to the little loch above, and catch a few brown trout for breakfast (there is also a visiting fresh fish van for non-fishers!). Sitting at the picnic tables looking out across the bay with uninterrupted views across to Gairloch on the far mainland is absolutely idyllic. The visitor's book is full of fond memories of these and many other unique holiday times - "a beautiful place to come 'home' to after a day exploring views that are second to none." Whilst the Bothy is situated in beautiful countryside it is not isolated; there is even a small licensed country store just 100 yards from the cottage which stocks good local produce and essentials.
The property is superbly positioned, between mountain and sea. Staffin Bay, just over 1 mile away, forms a natural harbour. Cruises run daily in season to view the local wildlife and take a trip to nearby Staffin Island. The owner also has his own boat and can provide sea - fishing trips for visitors. The area is rich in natural places of interest. Explore the Old Man of Storr, view the magnificent Kilt Rock waterfall and take a walk on the amazing Quiraing mountain. Superb location for climbing, sea kayaking, canoeing, pony trekking, sea, loch and river fishing and for just enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this totally unspoilt area. The small town of Uig is 7 miles away, from where you can take a ferry trip to one of the outer Hebridean islands. Portree (16 miles) is a pretty fishing port and offers an excellent selection of shops, restaurants and pubs.
