Description

Glen Affric View nestles amidst glorious Highland countryside with uninterrupted views across the hills to Glen Affric, claimed by many to be the most beautiful glen in Scotland. Situated on the 'quiet' side of Loch Ness, this pretty detached cottage is immaculately presented throughout and with bedrooms and shower rooms on two floors it provides flexible accommodation for all. Its bright, modern sitting room looks out across the hills and the attractive wood burning stove at its centre piece gives the cottage a warm, welcoming glow. Set in its own garden grounds, on the owner's small farm, it has an attractive patio area which leads onto fields and unfenced hill- side, with mountains beyond. A variety of deer are regular visitors, often venturing very close to the property. Buzzards, eagles, red squirrels and pine martins can be seen close -by.

About the local area

This is a fabulous area for the outdoor enthusiast. There are many lovely walks direct from the property. Crystal clear burns tumble through the rocks and at the end of the no through road is Loch Killin; a beautiful deep loch where you can fish for wild trout and arctic char, or just enjoy a quiet, secluded picnic on the banks. Fishing is also available on a variety of other local hill lochs and boats are obtainable from the hotel in the village, just 1 1/2 miles away. There are numerous places to visit locally. The charming town of Fort Augustus with its flight of canal locks, allowing small boats to descend into the Caledonian Canal, offers an excellent selection of interesting shops, small cafes and restaurants. Take a cruise from here through Inverness and indulge in a spot of 'Nessie' watching on the way. At the other end of Loch Ness is the stunning castle of Urquhart, situated on a promontory on the shores of the loch. Inverness, the capital city of the HIghlands is 25 minutes drive away. En route you can make a small detour to view the spectacular Falls of Foyers, which tumble dramatically down through mature woodland. Inverness has an excellent selection of shops and restaurants, a multimillion pound theatre complex, ice rink and wild water aqua dome. Golf, riding, mountain biking, climbing and a variety of water sports are all available in the area. This is an ideal base from which to indulge in a number of sporting activities or just relax, enjoy the scenery and get away from it all.
