Sanday is easily accessible from mainland Orkney, by both ferry and plane. Flying direct from Kirkwall on mainland Orkney to Sanday takes just 11 minutes. There are usually two flights per day and they are run at a very reasonable price. The ferry from Kirkwall to Sanday takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Car and passenger costs are kept to a minimum as they are regularly used by islanders.

Getting to Kirkwall, Mainland Orkney

Regular flights run from Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh or Glasgow direct to Kirkwall. Regular ferries operate from Aberdeen, John O'Groats, Gills Bay and Scrabster, near Thurso. Flights, car and passenger ferries operate all year round. There is also a regular scheduled bus service that runs from Inverness centre to Scrabster and John O'Groats which connects with the Orkney ferries. Further details available from owner.
