The shoreline, with its wonderful white sand beach and little rock pools is just yards away. The coastline is famous for its local population of seals and numerous seabirds that frequent these shores. There is a major seal colony here and new pups can be seen frequently during the summer months. There is plenty to see and do in the area. The town of Brora provides an excellent selection of local amenities, including restaurants, pubs, a bowling and tennis club as well as a hotel with small swimming pool open to non-residents. There is also a local distillery that offers guided tours throughout the season. For golfing enthusiasts this area is a dream come true, with a number of renowned Scottish links courses close-by, including Brora and the championship course at Royal Dornoch, which is just a short drive away. Dunrobin Castle, seat of the Dukes of Sutherland, is situated a few miles further south. With its spectacular gardens modelled on Versailles and its location on the edge of the sea, it is well worth a visit. A day trip to the Orkney Isles is also a must as is the fairytale Castle of Mey, the former home of the Queen Mother and the most northerly castle on the British Isles. The surrounding area is renowned for its rich bird and sea life. Puffins, Great Skua, otters, seals, dolphins and whales are all seen in and around the coast. For the more energetic the region is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Surfing, body boarding, kite buggying, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, fishing, cycling and hill-walking are all enjoyed locally. Very Good
Amazing location with superb views. Very warm and cosy.
Fantastic location. The upper part of the house looks out over the sea and the river loads of wild life around - great for bird watchers and walkers also for those who like the quiet side of life. House had all we needed for the holiday. Lots of historical areas to visit in the locality.
