Great golfing holidays or even holidays where you want to fit in the occasional round of golf are synonymous with Scotland. The game has been played here since at least the 15th century so it really is the home of golf.

Scotland has some of the most famous and best golf courses in Britain (if not the world) and there are lots of them, with almost 600 to choose from! So it's easy to find good local golf courses throughout Scotland where you will be welcomed during your stay.

As well as famous links golf courses like St. Andrews and Carnoustie, Royal Troon and Turnberry or Muirfield and Royal Dornoch, you'll find hundreds of really excellent golf courses such as Ladybank in Fife and Downfield near Dundee, Blairgowrie in Perthshire and Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway.

Whether you play a little or a lot and regardless of you handicap you'll find exactly the right golf course to suit in Scotland, with a wide choice of golf courses ranging from challenging open championship courses to local 9 hole courses. Unfortunately we can only highlight a few courses here but a quick Google search will bring up hundreds more!

It's worth remembering that at some golf courses you will need to contact them in advance to book your tee time and you may need to show them a handicap certificate, although this is not always required, especially at the smaller clubs.

In fact you can choose any region of Scotland stretching from the Highlands in the north to the Scottish Borders in the south and you will be able to find some great golf courses to play and it's easy to plan your holiday golfing itinerary by doing a little bit of research before you book your self catering accommodation.

Simply check out the local courses in the region you wish to stay or use our online search facility to find properties that are near to a selection of golf course.
