This area is characterised by its classic mountain slab terrain, with a magnificent sweep of smooth, polished granite up to 200m in height. Although the Lum has a southerly facing aspect, it is still very much an arctic/alpine climbing ground as it is situated a full 850m above sea level. Needless to say it can also provide a fantastic climb on a summer's day. This destination is suitable for experienced and serious climbers as it is full of pitfalls and a long way from help if an accident occurs. It is also extremely icy in the winter time.
