Description
This charming B listed renovated church is located in the quiet hamlet of Dalguise in Perthshire. The Old Kirk has been thoughtfully converted into a stunning 4 bedroom house over three floors with magnificent views across the Tay Valley. Perthshire lies in the heart of Scotland and The Old Kirk is very centrally located for exploring the local area and Scotland's biggest cities. Dunkeld is only 6 miles away and offers a good selection of shops including a deli, butchers, greengrocers, grocery shop, newsagents, post office and a number of specialist boutiques. Dunkeld and neighbouring Birnam have a huge amount of history, with the Birnam Oak, the only survivor of the wood that played a significant part in Shakespeare's Macbeth, thought to be nearly 1,000 years old the Birnam Oak now stands with its lower branches resting wearily on crutches. The Beatrix Potter Garden in Birnam tells the storey of the author and her life in the area, whilst over in Dunkeld stands the magnificent Cathedral, close to the banks of the River Tay. Pitlochry with its Festival Theatre, Explorers Garden and good selection of shops and restaurants is only 10 miles away. The area is well known for its spectacular scenery and there is no better way to explore than by walking on one of the many forestry tracks and way-marked trails. And for the more adventurous there are a number of Munros (mountains over 3,000ft) within an hours drive. The great outdoors has much to offer in Perthshire, especially Aberfeldy just 7 miles away, with water sports, fishing, golf, horse riding, cycling and off road sports available locally. If you fancy a day out in the city, Perth is just a 30 minute drive, with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness all within 1 1/2 hours. The Old Kirk is a perfect base for exploring the Perthshire area and beyond.
