Description
The Bolt Hole is located in tranquil Ellenabeich, a beautiful historic conservation village on the Isle of Seil. The cottage is beautifully presented, with great attention to all detail and has been awarded 4* by the Scottish Tourist Board. The Bolt Hole is a mid terrace new build; however, it has been designed to be in keeping with the old traditional slate worker cottages which line the village. The main living area has a beamed ceiling and the open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area is light and spacious. The lounge area has a flat screen satellite TV/DVD and the twin room has an additional TV/DVD and a Sony PSI. The cottage is located only a short walk away from the sea. From the back garden you can access the old tramway line and walk down to the rocky shoreline, where there is a wooden bench to relax on and take in the stunning view or at night watch the sun setting over the islands -  it is just breathtaking! You are also only a short stroll down to the local pub/restaurant and local shop which provides you with all the essentials. To arrive at this unique location on the Isle of Seil, you will have to cross over the famous Clachan Bridge, better known as "The Bridge over the Atlantic", which connects the Island to the mainland. Surrounding you there is an abundance of wildlife and it is a real bird watching paradise. For golfers there is a 9 hole course on the island. You will find great places to fish along the rocky coastline and boat trips are available locally. There is a local microbrewery and gift shops on the island too. The island has great walks and the quiet roads make cycling enjoyable. From Ellenabeich you can take a boat trip over to Easdale to explore this small island which has no roads or cars. Find out about its slate quarrying history, visit the folk museum, have a cosy drink in the local pub and enjoy the peacefulness of this unique place. Oban is only a half hour drive away where you can access larger shops, a cinema, leisure facilities, a distillery, McCaigs Tower and the ferry terminal to Mull & Iona, Coll, Tiree and Colonsay. To the south of Seil is the famous Kilmartin Glen, an area with over 350 ancient monuments, many prehistoric. The Isle of Seil has it all, the character of a quiet island and the accessibility of the mainland, giving you the freedom to explore.
