Beach Holidays

Scotland’s coastline is amongst the most dramatic and beautiful coastlines in Britain and it stretches for thousands of miles when you take into account the multitude of islands that sit off the coast.

The coast and coastal waters here have some of the highest concentrations of marine and bird life in Europe and it also has without doubt some of the finest sandy beaches; unspoilt, clean and just perfect for summer holidays with the family, bracing shoreline walks in the autumn or just the place to let the dog have a good run!

Where ever you look you’ll find plenty of superb beaches. On the east coast there are some lovely stretches of sandy beaches extending from Dornoch in the highlands, south to Nairn in Moray and further south all along the eastern coastline, including Stonehaven in Abderdeenshire and Lunan Bay in Angus. The Fife coast has some beautiful beaches, including a number of Blue Flag beaches at St. Andrews, Elie and Leven.

The East Lothian coast is dotted with beaches including Dunbar and North Berwick and in the Scottish Borders there is a Blue Flag beach near Eyemouth.

The northern and north western coastlines also have world class beaches, set within a more rugged environment, with lots of pretty coves and bays. On the north coast visitors will experience a wild and ‘moody’ coastline with fantastic open skies and fast changing weather, crashing Atlantic rollers and dramatic seascapes, just ideal for a holiday that will blow away all the cobwebs and bring you back in touch with nature!
All along the west coast the dramatic Highland coastline reveals lots tiny coves and bays and pretty fishing harbours and of course the islands of the inner and outer Hebrides, such as the Isle of Skye are also renowned for their beautiful coastlines and beaches.
To the south in Dumfries and Galloway the coastline extends from the sandy beaches of the Solway Firth to the rugged cliffs in the south west; quiet and beautiful for a relaxing holiday.
