Description

This lovely, little courtyard cottage dates back to the 16th century and was formerly a farm steading before being used as the gardener's cottage to the main estate house. The cottage sits in an oasis of calm within an enchanting spot and exudes that cosy, relaxing atmosphere that makes guests feel immediately at ease and in the holiday mood. The twin bedroom is both large and well presented and the light filled lounge the ideal spot for both daytime and evening relaxation. The cottage is very handy to many golf courses and within easy reach of Glasgow. The nearby coastal drive is beautiful and overlooks the islands of Arran and Cumbrae and out towards Bute and Kintyre in the distance.

About the local area

A short ferry trip across to Brodick on Arran, known as Scotland in miniature due to its high mountains and lochs in the north and rolling hills and meadows in the south, all surrounded by a stunning coastline, is a must, and provides superb walking or cycling country. This much loved island offers something for everyone. For example, visitors can make soap, explore the chequered history of Brodick Castle, visit the standing stones on Machrie Moor or for lovers of the grape or the grain there is both a visit to the distillery and brewery to be sampled! For a complete holiday contrast, why not let the train take the strain and visit Glasgow for a day of culture or retail therapy? Ayrshire is the birthplace of Robert Burns, the National poet of Scotland, and as such has numerous sites related to the great wordsmith dotted around the region. The popular little coastal town of Largs is home to Vikingar where visitors can experience the Viking adventure at first hand. There are numerous castles and country parks to savour in Ayrshire and of course no visit to this region would be complete without a trip to Culzean Castle, the jewel in the tourism crown! As one would expect from this world famous golfing region, there are golf courses galore and the majority developed to championship standard. A trip to the racecourse in Ayr, home to the Scottish Grand National and Gold Cup Festivals, is also recommended. Food lovers will enjoy the area's excellent range of restaurants. And for a truly memorable day out, step aboard the Waverley, the last seagoing paddle steamer in the World and see Holy Isle and Ailsa Craig.
