The Cream of Galloway is an exciting day out for everyone with the added bonus of over 30 flavours of the most delicious ice cream to choose from.  Within very easy driving are the many interesting little towns scattered around this delightful area. The charming little fishing town of Kirkcudbright for example, with its historic High Street and strong artistic connections, officially designated as the ’Artist Town’. The ’Food Town’ of Castle Douglas is well worth a shopping trip, as is a visit to Threave Castle where visitors are invited to ring a bell for the custodian to row them across! The annual Gatehouse Gala with its Tourchlight Procession is quite a spectacle and one not to be missed. The Cally Palace is highly recommended for afternoon tea as well as a superb evening meal and the approach to the hotel is via the delightful Cally Woods where it is usually possible to catch a glimpse of a deer or red squirrel. For lovers of Bluebells, the ancient woodland at Castramont has a most beautiful carpet of flowers that will simply take your breath away.
