Return to resultsEdinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, is a bustling centre for art, culture, shopping and cuisine, not to mention the festivities that take over the city every August as it hosts the biggest open arts festival in the world. The city, fascinatingly laid out in terms of design, is bursting with beautiful architecture and historic buildings that date from a number of periods. There are various museums, art galleries and high street shops all located within an easy distance from the centre and overlooking all of this sits Edinburgh castle, atop a rocky hill. The historic castle is an imposing sight and a trip inside will reveal a number of treasures, from Scottish historical jewels, to the one o'clock gun that still fires every day at this time.
There are a number of self catering cottages both within and outside the city, where you will be able to cater to your own needs and wants and experience the city in any way you choose. This is the perfect city for getting lost in or just going for a walk around; vast amounts of greenery and beautiful inner city parks provide the perfect way to escape. Having spent the day looking at the various sights, the city plays host to a vast number of restaurants with anything from local to international cuisine on offer. There are also a vast
number of bars, pubs and clubs to choose from, as well as a great deal of cultural events and theatre on offer in one of the city's many venues.
