About the local area

Cockburnspath (pronounced Co-Path) is an historic coastal community in the ancient county of Berwickshire, which centres itself on the market place. This is the end of 'The Southern Upland Way', which starts on the shore at Portpatrick, within sight of Northern Ireland and crosses Scotland to the North Sea, ending in this picturesque and charming village. The enchanting market town of Duns is 12 miles inland and the popular coastal holiday destination of Dunbar, where it's reported boasts the longest sunshine hours in the UK offers a wide array of facilities only 9 miles north. Watch the fishing boats return to the harbour with their daily catch or enjoy a romantic cliff top stroll and listen to the waves crash against this dramatic seashore... This area is renowned for its several championship golf courses and visitors will enjoy experiencing the many attractions close by, including the Scottish Museum of Flight and The John Muir Country Park. A regular train service from Dunbar takes only 20 minutes to reach the heart of the cultural City of Edinburgh, renowned for its festivals, arts and music venues, its superb castle and Medieval buildings and not forgetting the indulgent shopping experience along the Royal Mile! The elegant border toon of Berwick, which straddles the salmon rich River Tweed is only 20 miles south ensuring Hoprig House is an excellent choice for the gathering of family and friends giving easy access to explore Southern Scotland and North Northumberland too.
