Stonedyke is only 5 miles from Morebattle, which sits along the challenging route of the 'St Cuthbert's Way' making this an ideal location for walkers and cyclists who enjoy absorbing the wild and lonely beauty along the many miles of bridleways and foot paths which surround Stonedyke. Yet although Stonedyke sits in a rural location, the historic town of Jedburgh is a mere 7 miles west. Renowned for its 12th century Red Stone abbey and where the Castle Jail and Museum and Mary Queen of Scots House are interesting visitor attractions including an indoor swimming pool it also provides a good selection of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. The bustling market town of Kelso is 12 miles. With its quaint French style cobbled market square. It is home to one of the four Borders' Abbeys and offers a wide array of facilities including indoor swimming, many charming tea rooms, a lovely Italian restaurant, pubs and an ice rink. Golfers will enjoy the prestigious Roxburghe course and Springwood Park showground hosts many international horse riding events throughout the year and there is also the renowned Kelso racecourse. The salmon rich Rivers Tweed and Teviot will delight those who enjoy fishing and Floors Castle (which is softly illuminated at night and was recently voted number one in the top five attractions in the Borders) is home to the Duke of Roxburghe. Take a trip to Scotland's cultural city of Edinburgh or head south to vibrant Newcastle's shops or Northumberland's wild coastline, each just over an hour's drive.
Stonedyke provides an idyllic retreat for those seeking a sanctuary to rest and refresh in a beautiful setting and is well placed to explore the scenic beauty, fine houses and collection of border 'toons' right across the picture postcard of the Scottish Borders
