Description

Located in the bustling harbour town of Oban, this cosy first floor apartment is ideally placed for those wishing to explore the Inner Isles and the west coast of Scotland. Oban, offers a variety of shops, restaurants and bars. The town also boasts a leisure centre, cinema, museum and a distillery where you can sample a wee dram. A short hike to the top of the town will allow you to see the magnificent views from the famous McCaigs Folly. Argyll is steeped in history, with breathtaking scenery, and an abundance of wildlife. The beautiful island of Easdale offers Sea Safari Adventures with a chance to spot porpoises, dolphins, whales or basking sharks. Visit unspoilt beaches, ruined castles, museums, and beautiful gardens, or take a short boat trip from the harbour to the islands of Kerrera, Lismore, Mull and Iona. Forest trails offer leisurely walks, mountain biking and a variety of other outdoor pursuits are available, including kayaking, fishing, horse riding, climbing and golf. Day trips to Glencoe, Fort William and Inveraray will also make for some great days out! Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

About the local area

As you travel through Argyll, highland Scotland merges with the Scottish lowlands. In the north of the region is the bustling fishing port of Oban. Surrounded by the sweeping mountains of Lorn this is the ideal base from which to tour the Highlands to the north.

The Isle of Mull is only a short ferry trip away. Mull's capital, Tobermory, is instantly recognised by its famous brightly painted buildings. The island has a fascinating history being once home to the Chief of the Clan MacLean and site of the clan's ancient Duart Castle which has spectacular views from its battlements.

South along the coast are the unspoilt glens and bays of Mid-Argyll and Kintyre and the islands of Islay and Jura which are easily reached by ferry. Visit the whitwashed houses of Inveraray and the turreted Inveraray Castle, home to the Dukes of Argyll. Campbelltown in Kintyre was the scene of Viking repulsions at Saddell Abbey and has some lovely beaches nearby.

The captivating Isle of Bute lies at the heart of the Firth of Clyde, a place of tranquil relaxation with sheltered coves and sandy bays. Ideal for leisurely hiking and easy-going cycling on quiet back roads. Maybe take in the grandeur of Rothesay Castle or Mount Stuart - the House and gardens of the Marquess of Bute.
