Description

Harbour Flat enjoys a fantastic town centre location with stunning views over Rothesay Bay, towards the Cowal Peninsula and the Ayrshire coast. This is an ideal holiday base for small families, couples or friends to explore and enjoy the beautiful Isle of Bute. This comfortable apartment is a true home away from home. This is a perfect location to spend hours watching the ferries come in and out as well as different sized sail boats, yachts and fishing boats arrive and depart the harbour. There’s easy access to Rothesay town centre and to the Bute shoreline, directly below the apartment.
Located on the first floor, Harbour Flat boasts a spacious, comfortable, open-plan living/dining room featuring a delightful bay window with the most spectacular views. There is a large, fully fitted kitchen, the master bedroom is front facing with sea views and an en-suite shower room and the twin bedroom also has sea views.
The town of Rothesay is a charming, small coastal town on the Isle of Bute and boasts many interesting shops, cafés, restaurants and attractions. Rothesay is Bute ’s main town, and there is an excellent tourist office in the Discovery Centre, which also houses an exhibition about the Isle of Bute. Rothesay is the perfect base for exploring the Isle of Bute and it is also the main ferry port and transport hub for the island.
The best way to explore the island at your own pace is by car, but for guests who do not wish to bring their car on holiday, there is a reliable bus service which travels from Kilchattan Bay at the south of the island up to Rhubodach at the north. All buses travel through the town and Rothesay. There are also buses which take you to Ettrick Bay where you can enjoy lunch or coffee at the café. During the summer season the bus service also runs to Mount Stuart house. The summer season also brings a City Sightseeing bus, which is a hop on - hop off service, that tours around the island frequently. Alternatively, bicycles can be hired at the local shop, just a few yards along from the property. Bute is only 33 miles from Glasgow and is one of the most accessible of the westerly islands from the Scottish Central Belt. 15 miles long and 5 miles across at its widest point, the island is home to many historical sites including Rothesay Castle and Mount Stuart House, beautiful gardens and walks for all abilities. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
Harbour Flat can be booked together with Harbour View (ref UK30552) to accommodate up to 8 guests.

About the local area

As you travel through Argyll, highland Scotland merges with the Scottish lowlands. In the north of the region is the bustling fishing port of Oban. Surrounded by the sweeping mountains of Lorn this is the ideal base from which to tour the Highlands to the north.

The Isle of Mull is only a short ferry trip away. Mull's capital, Tobermory, is instantly recognised by its famous brightly painted buildings. The island has a fascinating history being once home to the Chief of the Clan MacLean and site of the clan's ancient Duart Castle which has spectacular views from its battlements.

South along the coast are the unspoilt glens and bays of Mid-Argyll and Kintyre and the islands of Islay and Jura which are easily reached by ferry. Visit the whitwashed houses of Inveraray and the turreted Inveraray Castle, home to the Dukes of Argyll. Campbelltown in Kintyre was the scene of Viking repulsions at Saddell Abbey and has some lovely beaches nearby.

The captivating Isle of Bute lies at the heart of the Firth of Clyde, a place of tranquil relaxation with sheltered coves and sandy bays. Ideal for leisurely hiking and easy-going cycling on quiet back roads. Maybe take in the grandeur of Rothesay Castle or Mount Stuart - the House and gardens of the Marquess of Bute.
