This cosy, detached cabin has the most stunning views over Loch Etive and towards Ben Cruachan. It is a perfect family base for exploring beautiful Argyll and is set in the natural, unspoilt grounds of a coastal croft, on the shores of the hauntingly beautiful Loch Etive.

Mountain View is situated just 150 yards from the shore of beautiful Airds Bay, and there are some wonderful walks to be had around the lochside and in the nearby forests. This charming, cosy cabin is a fantastic base for couples, friends or small families to enjoy beautiful Argyll in a relaxing environment. A friendly inn serving great food is just five minutes’ walk away, for fuss-free evenings with minimal effort.

This detached lodge has private access, private parking and a small enclosed garden with a patio area, great for dining al-fresco or enjoying the sunshine. Set all on the ground floor with two good sized bedrooms, the property is comfortably furnished and decorated with a warm, homely atmosphere. Outside is a shed housing a washing machine and bike storage, ideal for cleaning up after a muddy day of exploring or hiking. The natural and wooded grounds are part of the owner’s croft and are shared with the other properties on-site.

The nearby village of Taynuilt can be reached within a 5-minute walk and boasts great transport connections. It also has a popular village pub serving food, as well as small shops to peruse and attractions to visit nearby. All your needs are catered for here with a bar and restaurant, a general store, post office, butchers, hairdressers, café and a railway station, should you wish to explore further afield.

Known as the Gateway to the Isles, Oban, a bustling fishing town, is 12 miles away and has many shops, bars and restaurants. You can catch a short ferry trip to one of the Inner Hebrides, including Mull, Staffa and Iona. There are many opportunities to view wildlife with golden eagles, basking sharks, porpoises and otters often seen. There’s loads to explore nearby, including deserted lochs, ruined castles, beautiful gardens, and sites of historical interest. Visit Bonawe Smokeries, Cruachan Hollow Mountain, Oban Distillery, Inveraray Castle. Outdoor activities in the area include diving, sailing, kayaking, horse riding, golf, mountain biking and fishing. Glencoe and Fort William are within an hour’s drive and also offer many outdoor sports including walking, mountain biking, climbing and skiing. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

About the local area

As you travel through Argyll, highland Scotland merges with the Scottish lowlands. In the north of the region is the bustling fishing port of Oban. Surrounded by the sweeping mountains of Lorn this is the ideal base from which to tour the Highlands to the north.

The Isle of Mull is only a short ferry trip away. Mull's capital, Tobermory, is instantly recognised by its famous brightly painted buildings. The island has a fascinating history being once home to the Chief of the Clan MacLean and site of the clan's ancient Duart Castle which has spectacular views from its battlements.

South along the coast are the unspoilt glens and bays of Mid-Argyll and Kintyre and the islands of Islay and Jura which are easily reached by ferry. Visit the whitwashed houses of Inveraray and the turreted Inveraray Castle, home to the Dukes of Argyll. Campbelltown in Kintyre was the scene of Viking repulsions at Saddell Abbey and has some lovely beaches nearby.

The captivating Isle of Bute lies at the heart of the Firth of Clyde, a place of tranquil relaxation with sheltered coves and sandy bays. Ideal for leisurely hiking and easy-going cycling on quiet back roads. Maybe take in the grandeur of Rothesay Castle or Mount Stuart - the House and gardens of the Marquess of Bute.
