Description

These two superbly furnished and lovingly renovated cottages have been created from the wing of the owners’ country mansion house, just a short drive from the lovely seafront at Carnoustie, where guests can walk or cycle all the way along the sandy shoreline to the world famous golf links. The stylish furnishings create a relaxed ambience with many luxurious touches including underfloor heating and well-appointed bathrooms. Comfortable beds and linens complement antique furniture and guests will love the free access to the on-site pool, steam room, sauna and high-end gym, (these facilities are also open to the public).

Courtyard Cottage is a delightful ground floor property with a well-appointed open plan living space and two good sized bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room.

The Servants Hall (ref UK10541) features a high standard of comfort, ideal for a special occasion. There is a private enclosed decking area at the rear of the cottage where guests can enjoy a glass of wine or relax in the sunshine. Both properties have use of a hot tub which seats 5 and is shared between the two apartments. A booking system is in place to ensure each property has exclusive use.

The owners take pride in ensuring a pleasant and relaxing stay and are on hand to offer any suggestions for days out. This is a golfer’s paradise, there are many superb courses within an hour’s drive including St Andrews and Kings Barns. Non-golfers are also well catered for with the beautiful sandy beach just below the links course which is easily accessed by ramps and steps, and the adjacent leisure centre offers outdoor tennis, children’s play area and paddling pool. Plenty of cycle paths run along the shore line and there are many walking opportunities along the coastal path or inland in one of the five Angus Glens. The historic port of Arbroath is just 5 miles away where you can buy fresh and smoked fish daily, while slightly further afield, the cities of Dundee, Perth and Edinburgh offer all sorts of amenities and tourist attractions, including the very popular Victoria & Albert Museum, accessible either by car or by the excellent rail links from the town itself. Inland there are many castles and stately homes to explore nearby, notably Glamis Castle and Scone Palace or alternatively, just relax and enjoy the immediate surroundings. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Courtyard Cottage (UK10542) can be booked together with The Servants Hall (ref UK10541) to accommodate up to 10 guests.

About the local area

The ancient land of Angus comprises unspoilt highland glens, stunning rugged coastline and has a rich historical and cultural past. There are a good range of visitor attractions here that trace the regions heritage from earliest times to the present day including of course the ancestral home of the late Queen Mother at Glamis Castle.

Dundee has been transformed in recent years into a lively cosmopolitan centre with a burgeoning cultural quarter and an impressive range of galleries and museums. Strategically located on the Firth of Tay, the city has an important sea-faring and industrial heritage, with Captain Scott's famous Antarctic expedition ship RSS `Discovery' birthed on the banks of the River Tay at the award-winning Discovery Point Visitor Centre.

The glens of Angus have been attracting walkers and nature lovers for years. In sight of the southern peaks of the Grampian Mountains visitors will discover a number of tranquil valleys, single-track roads, rugged peaks and rolling hills; there are ten Munros (mountains over 3,000 feet) in this region. Of particular note is Glen Clova and at its head Glen Doll, which have wonderful lush valleys, heather clad slops and magnificent cliffs.

Some of the most spectacular scenery can be found along Scotland's North Sea coast; beautiful sandy and pebble beaches and outcrops of rugged cliffs stretching for some sixty-five miles. Four miles east of Dundee is Broughty Ferry, once regarded as `the richest square mile in Europe' due to the number of wealthy textiles barons that lived there and just further along the coast is Carnoustie with its world renowned championship golf course. Continuing north along the coast the next port of call is Arbroath which has an attractive old harbour, long sandy beaches and stunning sandstone cliffs. And of course no visit here is complete without sampling the town's most famous product - the `Arbroath Smokie' (haddock smoke cured over oak chips).
