Description

Bluebell Cottage is a beautifully renovated  terrace property located in the Royal Burgh of Auchtermuchty in the Kingdom of Fife, with open views to the Lomond Hills. This charming self catering cottage offers ground floor accommodation and makes a fantastic holiday destination. Each room has been tastefully decorated and furnished. The lounge is warm and welcoming with its wood burning stove. The kitchen diner is fully fitted and well equipped. There is a luxury tiled bathroom and two good sized bedrooms. Bluebell Cottage is within walking  distance of all essential amenities including a selection of shops, tearoom, local pub and eateries. The village is full of history with ancient streets and wynd’s, with records showing there has been a settlement here since 350AD.
Auchtermuchty was the adopted home of Sir Jimmy Shand MBE, MA who was a famous Scots accordionist and dance band leader during the 1950/60’s. Bluebell Cottage was the music room for Jimmy Shand and is named after his 1955 chart topping hit the "Bluebell Polka". The village has a bronze statue in honour of this late great musician. Today the famous musical talents to come from the village are The Proclaimers.
Auchtermuchty is a great base to start exploring all that stunning Fife, Perthshire and Augus have to offer.

About the local area

Auchtermuchty is an ideal location to explore this beautiful area of Scotland as it sits in the centre of Fife and within easy driving distances of Perth & Kinross and Dundee & Angus. There are various activities to be found for all age and interests. This is a fantastic area for outdoor enthusiasts, as you have magnificent countryside right on your doorstep - a half mile walk will take you to Pitmedden Forest which has numerous marked walk/cycle ways to explore. Nearby you will find the Lomond Hills offering great walks too. There are lochs and rivers providing ideal opportunities for fishing. This is a golfer’s paradise with a large number of local golf courses and top class international courses such as St Andrews 20 miles away and Gleneagles 24 miles. Activities such as 4x4 driving, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting can also be found locally. The village of Falkland is only a short 3 mile drive away; it has many listed buildings, wonderful cobbled streets and narrow intriguing wynd’s. The Royal Palace of Falkland, with its massive twin towered gatehouse, dominates the centre of the village. The tennis courts in the grounds of the palace are said to be the oldest in the world. In Perth (16 miles) you will find a larger selection of retail outlets, theatre, leisure facilities and much more. Throughout the year Fife and Perthshire are venues for a variety of large events including "T in the Park" and the Scone Races. There are many historical places of interest including St Andrews, Abernethy Pictish Round Tower, Scone Palace, the Black Watch Museum, Dunfermline Abbey to name but a few. With great motorway links you can easily venture afield; North to the Highlands or Grampians or alternatively head South to perhaps Edinburgh which is only an hour’s drive away
