This is a fantastic location for outdoor enthusiasts, as the vast Queen Elizabeth Forest is right on the door step. There are endless miles of forest roads and trails to explore, for walking and cycling. There is an abundance of wildlife to spot in the surrounding area, birds of prey, red squirrels and pine martens to name only a few. Loch Ard itself is stunning, with small islands and a crannog to explore. There are resident Canada geese and many different species of birds and ducks can be found by the loch. A gentle walk along the loch side brings access to the hotel complex with facilities and a bar with restaurant. Clay pigeon shooting, farm tours, guided walks, 4x4 safari’s, quad biking and sailing are available (some seasonal). In the surrounding area there are lots of other activities for every age and interests. For the very brave there is a high wire forest adventure, with the longest zip wire in Britain at Aberfoyle. Aberfoyle has an 18 hole golf course. From this central location you can easily travel and explore. It is an area steeped in history and there are lots of places of interest to visit. The Glengoyne Distillery producing Highland Single Malt Whisky, is only 12 miles south of Dumgoyne. The Loch Katrine Steamship "Sir Walter Scott" is a superb cruise. Blair Drummond Safari Park, located just outside Stirling is only a half hour drive away and a visit to Stirling can provide lots of historical places of interest to explore or a spot of retail therapy!
