This is a fantastic location for outdoor enthusiasts; the vast Queen Elizabeth Forest is right on the doorstep, with endless miles of forest trails to explore, both walking and cycling. The Trossachs has has spectacular mountains to climb such as Ben Lomond, Ben A’an, Ben Venue and Ben Ledi. This area has an abundance of wildlife to spot; ospreys, red squirrels and pine martens to name a few. There are many lochs to discover and Scotland’s only "lake" - Lake of Monteith is close by. This stunning lake is famous for its fishing and the Inchmahome Priory is located on its small island. There are lots of activities for all ages and interests including pony trekking and sailing. For the adventurous, Aberfoyle has a high wire forest adventure, with the longest zip wire in Britain. There is an 18 hole golf course located just outside Aberfoyle. This area is steeped in history and there are lots of places of interest to visit. The Glengoyne Distillery producing Highland Single Malt Whisky sits st the foot of the Campsie Fells close by. The Loch Katrine steamship "Sir Walter Scott" is a superb cruise, reached by a thrilling drive over twisting undulating "Duke’s Pass" or experience the 13 Lochs Forest Drive. From this central location you can easily travel and explore all that Central Scotland has to offer.
