In a stunning lochside location with gorgeous views of Loch Goil and surrounded by magnificent mountains, Rhumhor House was built in the 1890s and adjoins the owners holiday retreat. The snug has 7ft windows with panoramic views and seating for two, and the house is set apart by its distinctive character, tasteful interior and fairy tale turrets. Its has a spacious interior, suitable for all generations, and also has an exclusive beachside lawn. Whilst you enjoy the wonderful feeling of Highland seclusion you will find a golf course, swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, boat hire, fishing, walks for all abilities, bowling, amusements, restaurants, pubs and outdoor activity centres all around the village of Lochgoilhead.
With Glasgow airport only an hour’s drive away, Rhumhor House is the ideal base for exploring the many attractions this wonderful part of Scotland has to offer. Located within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park with the impressive Arrochar Alps and tranquil lochs, this national park is an absolute haven for nature lovers. Benmore Botanic Gardens, Old Inveraray Jail and Inveraray Castle are all popular with guests and well worth a visit. Explore the Cowal Peninsula, or catch the short ferry crossing from Colintraive to the magical Isle of Bute with its lovely sandy beaches and rugged coastline. For the less enthusiastic, why not just relax on the beach at Rhumhor House with a glass of wine and admire the views. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

About the local area

Loch Lomond is the single biggest expanse of inland water in the British Isles. The broad island-dotted shallows in the south gradually narrow into deeper water surrounded by steep sided mountains dominated by Ben Lomond. The loch is ideal for sailing and water-sports and there are some beautiful walks.

Talk a gentle stroll through Queen Elizabeth Forest Park or Balloch Castle Country Park and visit charming lochside villages and sandy bays. There really is something for everyone. If hill walking, cycling, boating, golf, wildlife watching, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing or mountain biking are your thing then this is THE place to go!

Nearby to the north is The Trossachs National Park, with heather-clad peaks known as `The Highlands in Minature'. This place includes the Crainlairch and Ben Lawers mountain ranges, which are amongst the highest in Scotland. A true haven for keen walkers and hikers. For more relaxing activities visit one of the many historic buildings in the area or take a guided bush craft tour, try bird watching, or do a spot of retail therapy. The Trossachs is a wonderful area to visit and no trip to Scotland would be complete without spending some time in the area.
