Wester Coshieville Cottage lies on the edge of the beautiful village of Grandtully, just 4 miles east of Aberfeldy and 28 miles north west of Perth. Set in Highland Perthshire, renowned for its outstanding scenery, the cottage is in a tranquil location, approached directly off the A827 by a private road which leads up through woodland and pastures, flanked by a dry-stone wall, to a sweeping gravel drive.
The cottage forms part of a former small farm, with spacious accommodation arranged over two levels in the traditional steading, which once housed the livestock. Today the building affords luxuriously appointed living, all housed within the deep stone walls and slate pitched roof of this stunning conversion. With a cathedral ceiling in the principal living area, every room is beautifully decorated and with far-reaching views from every aspect, creating a feeling of comfort, opulence and peace. The exceptional location, with its patchwork of rolling pastures and wooded hillsides means that both spring and autumn are spectacular times to experience Wester Coshieville Cottage. Discerning guests will appreciate the attention to detail of the cosy, yet stylish interior, coupled with fine antiques, artwork and furnishings, luxury quality textiles, comfortable beds, a contemporary kitchen area and a high degree of privacy, making this cottage the ideal place in which to unwind and recharge.
The nearby town of Aberfeldy provides all essential services including a selection of quality shops, art deco cinema, whisky distillery and a variety of good restaurants. Pitlochry is 11 miles away with the famous Festival Theatre, and also has a railway station with a direct sleeper service to London. The cottage is perfectly placed to take advantage of all that Perthshire has to offer for the traditional country sportsman. The season begins with salmon fishing on the River Tay, Scotland’s longest river, with fishing available on the owner’s private beat (by arrangement with owner). Stalking and grouse shooting are available on one of the many Highland estates to the north, in addition to pheasant and partridge shooting which can be enjoyed over many of the estates in Strathtay.
The winter sports enthusiast is ideally placed for the ski slopes of both Aviemore and Glenshee. There are challenging cycling routes and wonderful woodland walks for those not wishing to tackle some of Scotland’s notable munros and there are some beautiful golf courses nearby at Aberfeldy, Strathtay and Pitlochry, with championship courses at Gleneagles and Rosemount.
The entrance hall leads to the spacious, open plan living, dining and kitchen area with cathedral ceiling, a room flooded with natural light from the full height, southeast facing windows. The living area is comfortably furnished together with the provision of a 50’’ flat screen TV and internet with Wi-Fi connectivity. The kitchen is well appointed with NEFF electric hob, oven and grill, integral fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, wall and floor units and deep ceramic sink. There is a separate utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Beyond is the guest accommodation on the ground floor comprising a twin bedroom, bathroom with underfloor heating and bath with overhead shower. Upstairs comprises a suite of large double bedroom with combed ceiling and twin beds, bathroom and reading room with stunning views across the meadows to the hills of Strathtay and beyond.
Outside, the cottage enjoys its own garden and grounds, with a raised seating area and sweeping lawn with a panoramic yet peaceful vista, the perfect spot to enjoy a Highland sunset or watch the Northern Lights! Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 1½ miles.
