Description

Osprey is situated in the heart of the historic Achnacarry Estate, home to the chief of the Clan Cameron, who lives at the adjacent Achnacarry Castle. Osprey is located on the ground floor of an original stone farm steading building which has recently been converted into luxury apartments in the heart of this beautiful and historical highland estate. It provides a high standard of accommodation in a unique, peaceful and totally unspoilt setting. The main living area is open-plan. This stunning room has a large bright and airy living/kitchen/dining area, with traditional sash windows which drink in the wonderful views across this countryside estate from its first floor vantage point. Inquisitive pheasants are likely to be peering back at you! There are two bedrooms - a kingsize double bedroom and a twin room, both superbly presented with colour co-ordinated soft furnishings. There is also a large family bathroom with bath/shower above.

Dining Area: With dining table and chairs for four.
Kitchen Area: With electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice-box and dishwasher. A very well-equipped kitchen area with integral appliances.
Bedroom 1: With king-size bed

Bathroom: With shower over bath, WC and wash basin

Facilities

All electricity, bed linen and towels supplied. Cot and highchair available. Wi-Fi access available. There is a separate drying room with washing machine and a large tumble dryer for guests use for machine washed clothes, each guest receives a drying room key on their key fob so the drying room is secure. There is also a freezer in there for shared use of the two x 2 bedroom apartments which do not have a freezer in their apartments.There is an honesty box for the tumble dryer use (£2 a dry - the only extra to pay for)

Set in acres on Achnacarry Estate with Clan Cameron castle in the grounds where visitors are welcome to walk and cycle. Picnic table and chairs available for visitors to Osprey. Cycle rack and undercover storage for kayaks etc available. Off road parking for 2 cars.

About the local area

Situated on the isthmus in-between Loch Lochy and Loch Arkaig with the tumbling river Arkaig a few hundred years away, Osprey is surrounded by lochs, mountains and superb wildlife. Friendly pheasants roam the grounds and deer are seen within close proximity. With wonderful walks and cycle tracks right on the doorstep, Achnacarry Estate is an ideal base for an active outdoor holiday or peaceful retreat. There is an attractive lawned area of garden to the front and a pretty courtyard to the rear of the building. The steading retains its original whinstone facade with traditional large sash windows and the original bell tower with weathervane atop.  There is ample car parking for up to two cars and covered cycle rack area is provided for visitors’ use. A shared drying room is also available in a separate room of the courtyard complex for outdoor clothing, boots etc. There are also picnic tables and BBQ’s. The local landscape is full of natural beauty and has been a popular location for filming both for the cinema and TV. Scenes from the film ’Rob Roy’ were filmed at the beautiful Cia-aig-falls nearby. Fort William, the outdoor capital of the UK, is just 15 minutes drive away. An outdoor enthusiasts paradise, this area offers a wide range of activities for all, from exhilarating walks to the top of Ben Nevis, skiing, snowboarding or mountain biking at nearby Aonach Mor/Nevis Range, to walking the Great Glen or West Highland Way. The less energetic can take a gondola ride to the top of the mountain and enjoy a meal in the Pinemarten restaurant. Achnacarry is also well situated as a base for touring the wonderful West Highlands and Islands. Achnacarry Outdoor Pursuits also operate from the Estate and offer a wide variety of activities for individuals and families, from fishing, to Argocat wildlife tours as well as stalking (in season). Or you can simply relax - perhaps take in some highland clan culture at the Clan Cameron Museum, try out the water of life at Ben Nevis Distillery, or just enjoy the silence and the beauty of the place itself.
Osprey may also be available to let with Heron, a similar two-bedroomed apartment andor Ptarmigan, a three-bedroomed apartment in the same steading building
