Delightfully situated overlooking the bay on the beautiful Sleat peninsular, Aird House is a 300 year old stone cottage set in its own pretty garden grounds. The cottage has been in the same family for over 200 years and the current family owners have had it lovingly restored whilst retaining its unique olde world charm, including two foot thick stone walls and tiny cottage staircase. It oozes warmth and cosy-ness. It is thought to be the oldest house in the pretty village of Aird and was once the residence of the Clan Donald Factor.

About the local area

The Sleat Peninsular is known as ’the garden of skye’; this southern end of this beautiful Isle is renowned for its pretty landscape, lovely coastline and miles of stunning scenery. The cottage overlooks open countryside sloping down to the sea. Armadale Castle, seat of the Clan Donald, with its superb gardens and grounds set in 20,000 acres, also houses a fascinating museum and is just 4 miles away. Boat trips to see the seals, dolphins and whales run from Armadale harbour. The ferry also sails from here across to Mallaig on the mainland. The Sleat peninsular is an ideal holiday base for the nature lover, surrounded by superb walking, climbing, bird watching and beautiful fauna and flora. It also offers easy access to a wealth of historical sites and places of interest. The fairy tale castle of Eilean Donan, the sea port of Kyle of Lochalsh, the otter centre at Kyleakin, numerous distilleries and ancient historical sites are all within easy reach. Although this property does  accept one pet, there is a kennels just 1/2 mile from the property if you want to bring more than one. There is a twin bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, but please note that the cottage has very steep, small stairs and sloping ceilings in upstairs bedrooms.
