About the local area

There are some wonderful walks direct from the property and with the Torridon Mountains, the Skye Cuillins, MacLeod’s Tables and the Five Sisters of Kintail mountain ranges all within easy reach, hill walkers and climbers are spoilt for choice.  The picture post card village of Plockton is just over a mile away.  Made famous as the venue for the television series Hamish Macbeth, it is well worth a visit. With its picturesque flower filled gardens, little winding streets and pretty cottages lining the foreshore it is easy to see why it has also become a haunt for artists. The surrounding area offers a wealth of activities, places of interest and historic sites. The fairy tale castle of Eilean Donan, enchantingly situated on a promontory in the loch and accessed by a small causeway, is a short drive away. A spectacular route takes you past this famous castle and through the amazing mountain range known as the Five Sisters of Kintail and beautiful Glen Shiel, before reaching the shores of Loch Ness. The charming sea port of Kyle of Lochalsh, gateway to the Isle of Skye, is just 5 minutes’ drive away. Here there is a good selection of small and interesting shops as well as restaurants, bars and cafes.  A glass-bottomed boat runs from here to view the sea life close to hand.  The Gavin Maxwell Otter Centre at Kyleakin is well worth a visit and numerous distilleries and ancient historical sites are all within easy reach.  With its close proximity to the Isle of Skye and the mountains, hills, lochs and coastline of the Western Highlands, this lovely, spacious holiday property is ideal for a combined family holiday or larger groups wishing to enjoy this spectacular region of the Highlands
