Originally built in 1859 and restored to its former glory in 1979, the Alford railway is perfect for rail enthusiasts and children alike. The Alford Railway company offer fantastic old fashioned rides on beautifully restored trains running on Scotland's first 2ft Narrow Guage passenger railway between Alford and Haughton Park. Active between April and September and open for 'Santa Specials' in December, these scenic train journeys start from the restored Station yard in Alford and through to the Alford Golf Course to Haughton. There are two carriages in operation which are pulled by a steam diesel locomotive engine; namely the tram car carriage and the Jubilee Coach. This attraction is a rare treat and perfect day out for all the family.
