Culzean Castle, located 12 miles south of Ayr, is one of Scotland's best loved castles. So much so that an illustration of it adorns the £5 notes issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland. This beautifully restored castle enjoys a dramatic windswept, clifftop location and its surrounding grounds and gardens are a delight. Official records for the castle date its construction from the late 16th century but it is thought to predate this by hundreds of years. Among its many attractions is the Eisenhower Apartment- gifted to the famous wartime Allied General and a place he enjoyed coming to on several occasions. It is full of wartime memorabilia and provides an interesting insight into the character of a soldier who eventually went on to become his country's President.

The castle runs a wide range of events through the summer season making this an ideal venue for a family day out. Visitors will simply love the stunning walled gardens and wandering through the castle's huge grounds which are home to a wide array of wildlife.
