With over 300 square miles of mixed landscapes to explore this diverse natural playground is one of the most popular places to visit in Scotland. Managed by the Forestry Commission the park offers spectacular views and miles upon miles of footpaths, forests and lochs to explore.
To help you make the most of your visit the Forestry Commission have opened three visitors centres all located in stunning locations in and around the park. Kirroughtree Visitor Centre in Newton Stewart, Glentrool Visitor Centre in Glentrool and Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre in New Galloway. All of them are packed full of information, refreshments for your day out in the forest and adventures playgrounds for the children.
There are tons of activities available in the park including mountain biking, hiking up the high summits, spotting some rare wildlife, fishing on one of the lochs and even star gazing. Head over to The Galloway Forest Park website to find out more!
