Situated on an island on the River Dee, Threave Castle is now only accessible by boat which adds to the stature and prestige of the place. Open April through to September, the castle is the only building left standing from a village which would have existed on the island hundreds of years ago. Though still an impressive site for those visiting the area; the castle has been abandoned since the mid 1600's and is now a large visitor attraction for those wishing to explore the mysterious and rugged ruin
