Built in the mid 1100's, Whithorn Priory became a popular destination for pilgrims throughout the Medieval Period. People travelled far and wide to pray at Saint Ninian's shrine and some even came to cure ailments from what was believed to be the powerful healing powers of the shrine. Today, though the shrine is gone, the Priory remains alongside the Whithorn Priory museum which stands next to it.

Steeped in history dating back almost a thousand years, the priory makes for an excellent day out and, though the pilgrims are gone, can still be seen attracting many visitors today!
